Maybe it’s something about being in our thirties or maybe it’s just a coincidence, but Andrew and I have both found ourselves in need of new clothes this year. He discovered his old stand-bys from college are just no longer holding up to abuse or fashion trends and I’ve been every size under the sun but have finally settled on one that I like but have no clothes for.
Time for a revamp.
We’ve tackled it slowly, in stages. Because we’re busy people who rarely leave home for any reason but food, shopping at a bunch of stores wasn’t an option. And we wouldn’t have the slightest idea what to do in a mall any more. (Gah. Any day now we’ll be reduced to watching the weather channel and wearing coats year round. *Waves sweetly at all the Grandparents that we love!*)
I signed up for StitchFix and have been thrilled with the boxes of clothes that were shipped to my door to try on. So many items I would never have thought to try on in a store that I loved and kept for my very own. I sent back whatever wasn’t quite right and never had to leave my driveway. Can’t recommend StitchFix enough for a random shopping spree or to totally revamp your wardrobe.
Andrew, on the other hand, found one store that suited him, signed up for their rewards program, and we’re over-hauling his closet, one piece, one month at a time. He’s very hip now. I love it.
The irony is, we still don’t get out much. But that’s ok. We wear our clothes for our kids and each other. Makes sense that I’d wear my favorite clothes for my Most Favorite People. And I’m writing about that over at Dear Abby Leigh today. Come along and read more about my philosophy of Dressing For The Day….
